A weekend night with the 1830's :)

Imagine being at home with the candles flickering and the crystal glistering and the silver sparkling in the dim light that the candles cast upon the scene that we see, a fine lady is setting at the table eating a grand fest her hair is all done up in curls and with flowers and pearls and feathers her velvet gown is just gorgeous and her satin slippers are all so comfy and pretty this would be the picture of an evening on a weekend night in the 1830's :)

This painting of lovely Sarah Hale from around 1830-35, Sarah is dressed in a gorgeous black velvet dress with white muslin trim at the top of the bodice, and even though we can not see her waist I can promise you this it is a fine princess waist on the dress, and with a lot of the 1830's you have huge puffed sleeves and this dress is no exception, it has those lovely puffed sleeves and you have to love them, I find Sarah a very stylish and pretty lady :)

Wonderful 1836-39 white silk brocade with white satin ribbon trim which is on the collar and on the sleeves up by the shouldars the sleeves are puffed but are not as large as in the past we can see in this lovely dress how fashion is yet again changing, but this dress would be perfect for an 1830's evening ie dinner or a ball? Or even a small country dance, either way it would be perfect :)
